Les enchères ouvertes jeudi à Moscou pour la vente de 48,8% actions du deuxième port de Russie, le port de Saint-Pétersbourg (après celui de Novorossiïsk sur la mer Noire) ont été remportées par la compagnie CHUPIT LIMITED, basée à Chypre. L’acquisition s’est faite au minimum fixé pour la vente, 28,1 millions de dollars. Chupit Limited est une filiale groupe NOVOLIPETSK. Novolipetsk, détenait déjà plus de 51% des parts de la compagnie Port maritime de Saint-Pétersbourg, qui gère le port. Plus de 51 millions de tonnes de marchandises ont transité en 2004 par ce port, situé dans le delta de la Neva et relié à la mer Baltique par un canal de 27 milles nautiques. Le groupe Novolipetsk détient aussi 69% des parts du port de Touapsé sur la mer Noire, le troisième port de Russie.

Nedlines a lancé son nouveau service Harwich-Ijmuiden. Nedlines est une compagnie maritime basée en Hollande qui offre un service ferry quotidien entre l’Angleterre et la Hollande. Le navire utilisé a une capacité de transport de 100 camions et de 150 véhicules légers.

Le comité du port de Douvres a annoncé son intention de faire construire un parking de 1500 camions pour solutionner les problèmes de congestion locale et de stationnement de nuit des poids lourds dans le Kent. Cette zone « tampon » pourrait aussi résorber la longue file d’attente des camions sur la M20 quand il y a des retards au port.

À Sedrun, à 1.450 mètres d’altitude, les travaux de creusement se font à 1.300 mètres de profondeur. Un puits a été creusé, emprunté tous les jours 24 heures sur 24 par les ouvriers du chantier. De l’autre côté du massif, à Faido, dans le canton du Tessin, d’autres équipes creusent, cette fois-ci avec des tunneliers, pour aller à la rencontre des ouvriers de Sedrun. La jonction devrait se faire d’ici 2 à 3 ans. Ce tunnel des NFLA, long de 57 km, reliera Erzberg, dans le canton d’Uri, à Biasca dans le canton du Tessin. Il devrait être terminé d’ici à 2012. Il s’agit du plus gros chantier ferroviaire en cours en Europe, et ce tunnel ferroviaire sera le plus long du monde.

La Chine prévoit de s’ouvrir aux investissements étrangers dans le domaine du rail afin de financer un programme de développement et de restructuration estimé à 2 milliards de Rmb (205 milliards d’Euro) selon la presse britannique la semaine dernière.

La première caravane de poids lourds à emprunter la route de la soie a terminé son voyage de 12000 km de Pékin à Bruxelles. Le voyage par l’ancienne route commerciale a été organisé par le syndicat des transporteurs du Kazakhstan en collaboration avec son homologue en Chine, Lettonie, Lituanie, Pologne et Russie. La caravane composée de cinq véhicules chargés de meubles pour un client en Belgique a pris un mois à effectuer le périple. Un porte-parole du syndicat routier international a indiqué que cette initiative avait pour but de montrer que le transport de marchandises par camion de Chine en Europe ne prenait qu’un tiers du temps du transport par bateau.

Les routiers espagnols sont parvenus à un accord avec le gouvernement sur les niveaux de taxation du fuel. La taxe ne devrait pas augmenter en 2006 et sera fixé au niveau minimum Européen en 2007.

A Dubai, une équipe de secours aéroportuaire (AET) - mise en place après le Tsunami - a étendu son champ d’action au Pakistan pour soutenir l’action humanitaire à la suite au tremblement de terre du 8 octobre. Le centre de logistique des Nations Unies et le gouvernement du Pakistan ont demandé à l’AET de gérer la marchandise d’aide humanitaire à l’aéroport d’Islamabad. Peu de temps après le cataclysme, quatre directeurs AET de Dnata, des Emirats, Aramex et DHL se sont rendus à Islamabad pour évaluer la situation et déterminer l’étendue du soutien logistique nécessaire. L’AET a dépêché deux équipes de volontaires à Islamabad, sélectionnés pour leur capacité à gérer les situations de crise, la documentation, le stockage et la distribution de l’aide humanitaire. A Islamabad, l’AET gère près de 20 vols d’aide humanitaire par jour et coordonne la distribution de 2000 tonnes de marchandises d’aide toutes les 24 heures.

L’excédent des transactions courantes du Japon a augmenté de 6,5% en septembre sur un an à 13,434 mds EUR, alors que la plupart des économistes prévoyaient un recul. Les analystes s’attendaient en moyenne à une baisse de 2,8% sur un an, à 1.695,6 milliards de yens, selon un sondage auprès de 21 instituts de recherche. La fourchette de prévisions allait de 1.558,8 à 1.815,1 milliards de yens. Les exportations ont continué croître fortement (+8,9%) tandis que le rythme de croissance des importations s’est quelque peu ralenti (+19,7%). L’excédent commercial s’est tout de même replié de 20,4% sur un an à 1.111,7 milliards de yens. Les investissements directs du Japon à l’étranger ont atteint 377,9 milliards de yens et les investissements de portefeuille 7.742,7 milliards de yens

Les investissements directs étrangers (IDE) en Chine ont reculé de 2,12% au cours des dix premiers mois de l’année, par rapport à la même période de l’an passé. Ces investissements se sont élevés à 48,81 milliards de dollars entre janvier et octobre, a précisé le ministère du Commerce. Les promesses d’investissements ont augmenté de 22,53% sur cette période, à 145,08 milliards de dollars. Hong Kong, les Iles Vierges britanniques et le Japon ont été les principaux investisseurs durant cette période. Le nombre d’entreprises à capitaux étrangers approuvées par le ministère au cours des dix premiers mois de l’année s’est élevé à 35.300, soit une hausse de 0,48% par rapport aux dix premiers mois de 2004. Aucun chiffre n’a été donné pour le seul mois d’octobre.

Biddings opened for the sale of 48,8% shares of Russia’s second biggest seaport of Saint Petersburg (after Novorossiisk on the Black sea) on Thursday at Moscow. The Cyprus based company Chupit Ltd acquired the port at the minimum bid price of 28,1 M dollars. Chupit Ltd is a subsidiary of the Novolipetsk group. Novolipetsk already owns more than 51% shares of the Saint Petersburg seaport company managing the port. The port’s total throughput was 51m tonnes in 2004. It is situated in the Neva Delta and linked to the Baltic sea by a 27 miles long canal. The Novolipetsk group also holds 69% shares of the Touapse port on the Black sea, which is the third port of Russia.

Nedlines launched its daily Harwich-Ijmuiden service. Nedlines is a shipping company based in the Netherlands which offers a daily ferry service between England and the Netherlands. The ship has the capacity to carry more than 100 trucks and 50 passenger cars.

Dover Harbour Board has announced plans to build a 1,500 truck park to solve local lorry congestion and overnight parking problems in Kent. It said this “buffer zone” could also eliminate the need for Operation Stack where lorries queue on the M20 during delays at the port.

At an altitude of 1450 meters digging is underway to a depth of 1300 meters, at Sedrun. A shaft was dug which is used 24 hours a day by workers on the site. On the other side of the mountain at Faido, in the Tessin canton other teams are digging, this time with tunnel diggers to meet up with workers from Sedrun. They should meet up in 2 or 3 years. The new Alpine railway line’s tunnel is 57 km long and will link Erzberg in the Uri canton to Biasca in the Tessin canton. It should be finished by 2012. This is the biggest railway construction site underway in Europe. The railway tunnel will be the longest in the world.

The first commercial truck caravan to tackle the historic Silk Road has completed its 12,000km journey from Beijing to Brussels. The trip along he ancient trade route was organised by the international Road Transport Carriers’ Union of Kazakhstan in collaboration with its counterparts in China, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia. The caravan of five vehicles loaded with furniture for a client in Belgium, took a month to complete its journey. A spokesman for the International Road Transport Union said the initiative aimed to show freight could be transported from China to Europe in just a third of the time it would take by sea.

The Dubai based Airport Emergency Team (AET) –set up after the Tsunami – has extended its logistics expertise to support humanitarian efforts in Pakistan, following the 8 October earthquake. The United Nations Joint Logistics Center and the government of Pakistan asked the AET to manage the relief cargo at the airport in Islamabad. And within days of the disaster, four AET directors from Dnata, Emirates, Aramex and DHL flew to Islamabad to analyse the situation and determine the extent of logistical support required. The AET then deployed two teams of volunteer staff to Islamabad, selected for their expertise in handling the breakdown, documentation, storage and delivery of relief. In Islamabad, the AET handles approximately 20 relief flights pre day, and coordinates the delivery of some 2000 tonnes of humanitarian cargo every 24 hours.

Business transactions surplus in Japan increased by 6.5% amounting to Euro 13.434bn since last September, whereas most economists predicted a drop. Analysts expected a yearly average drop of 2.8% to 1 695.6bn yens according to a survey by 21 research institutes. Forecasts went from 1.558,8 to 1.815,1bn yens. Exports continued to grow (+8.9%) whereas imports slowed down (+19,7%). Trade surplus dropped by 20.4% in the year to 1.111,7bn yens. Direct Japanese investments abroad reached 377,9bn yens and portfolio investments were at 7.742,7bn yens.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in China dropped by 2,12% over the first ten months of the year in comparison to the same period last year. Investments rose to 48,81 bn dollars between January and October said the Trade minister. Promises of investment rose by 22,53% over the period to 145,08bn dollars. The main investors during the period were Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands and Japan . The number of foreign capital enterprises approved by the minister totalled 35.300 over the first ten months of the year, an increase of 0.48% in comparison to the same period last year. No figures have been given for the month of October.
